When purchasing a certification, it will have three pre-defined times: Pre-Access, Training Access and Exam Access.
What is Pre-Access?
Pre-Access is the timeframe from purchasing a certification and starting it. After checkout, the certification is added to your account, and must be started within 31 days. If you don't manually start it, it will begin automatically. When the certification is started, Training Access and Exam Access begin.
What is Training Access?
Training Access is how long you have access to the training material (Course tab) and training labs (Labs tab). For BTL1 this is 4 months (124 days), for BTL2 this is 5 months (155 days).
We set time limits for a number of reasons, which we're happy to explain:
such as pushing students through the training (come on, we've all bought courses with lifetime access and not touched them in years 😉), preventing skill fade before taking the exam to give students the best chance of passing, and identifying the number of active students to help us allocate resources.
If your Training Access runs out, you have the option to purchase a single extension from the Store tab of the associated certification. The two choices are:
- 31-day Training Access extension for £100
- 62-day Training Access extension for £150
Students are only permitted to purchase ONE of these options.
Should a student still need more time to study, we request they raise a support ticket so we can better understand their circumstances. At this stage, with any provided evidence, we will decide on whether an additional extension will be granted.
What is Exam Access?
Exam Access is timeframe during which you can start a certification exam. You must pass the exam within this timeframe, otherwise you have failed the certification.
All of our certifications come with 12 months of Exam Access, alongside 2 exam attempts.
Exam Access cannot be extended.
